About Me
Media is everywhere. From phones, to laptops, to TV and anything else with a screen, we as humans consume hours upon hours of media a day, sometimes without even realizing it. It is ideas like these that brought me to Indiana University’s Media school. I got my degree in Media Advertising, and a minor in Marketing through the Kelley School of Business.
As the world has shifted to become fully reliant on technology, media consumption has grown exponentially. I found a passion for learning about the industry and the potential for growth in the coming years. Media allows for us to connect in a way that past generations could only dream of. Every piece of information we could ever want at the ends of our finger tips, and the industry is only expanding.
At my last job I was tasked with spearheading a new E-commerce division and building new skills within that space. I worked on two different stores, but the one that saw the most success was named Bleacherheads. I wanted to create a brand centered around college sports and the fans of those schools. We focused on creating apparel that wouldn’t utilize trademarked logos or tag lines, but instead were related to what trends schools were going through at that time. I’m a massive college sports fan, and more specifically, I’m a die hard Indiana fan (pictured below).

The first ‘viral’ design that I created was our “C1G” design. With Indiana football finally having something to cheer for, I knew our fanbase was eager for new football apparel. As the Hoosiers continued to win throughout the year it gave us an easy way to keep on promoting our designs. This led to an explosion of orders that we weren’t quite expecting, but were thrilled about nonetheless.

I spent countless hours pressing shirts, packaging orders and taking trips to the post office. When people received their orders, it resulted in social media posts that turned into more purchases. We were able to do thousands of dollars in revenue in a few short weeks off of one design. When IU went to play against Notre Dame in the playoff I came up with another design that also blew up pretty quickly on social media, “Catholics vs. Candystripes”. An obvious homage to the former “Catholics vs. Convicts” t-shirt that was famous when Notre Dame played The U in 1988.

This design also resulted in late nights and early mornings making sure orders were sent out as quick as possible so people could have them for the game. While the Hoosiers didn’t end up winning, it was evidence we had something going with Bleacherheads. We kept at it with different designs going semi viral amongst multiple fanbases. I got to work on a plethora of skills like graphic design, inventory management, customer service, merchandise sales, and plenty more. I learned a ton doing that aspect of the business and it was an absolute blast.
At a certain point we thought it would be a fun idea to do a sports related podcast to help promote the brand. The Bleacherheads team created and decorated an entire podcast studio for the show. I taught myself new aspects of video and audio editing as well as learning how to set up microphones and audio equipment to record. While the show was short lived, it was an incredible learning experience about what goes into a podcast. From editing each episode to creating promotional clips there was a lot of effort that went into it, and it was a lot of fun to be a part of. If you want to see more about that you can check out the podcast/video editing page on this site.

While I’ve learned a ton in my first years post-grad, I’m eager to keep on learning. I hope this page gave some insight into my life and experience and I can’t wait for what the future has to offer! Thank you for taking the time to get to know me. Go Hoosiers!
